Gaurav Khanna on Divorce: Television actor Gaurav Khanna has, at last, dealt with the headlines about his separation from wife Akanksha Chamola, just a few days after she came forward on Lock Upp Season 2 and said, publicly that the two are moving toward divorce.
In his first on the record reaction, Gaurav said it’s still the same thing for him, even if they’ve chosen to go separate ways, his respect, fondness and steady support for Akanksha has not shifted even a little.
Speaking to paparazzi outside the sets of Laughter Chefs while promoting his upcoming reality show appearance, Gaurav responded to questions about his personal life with a calm and emotional statement.
He said, “Bas yaar, wahi haal hai. Pyaar abhi bhi utna hai, support abhi bhi utna hai. Main toh hamesha support karunga Akanksha ko. Meri biwi hai yaar. Pyaar kiya toh piche kyu hatu?”
The news first came to light during the premiere episode of Lock Upp Season 2, where Akanksha Chamola revealed that she and Gaurav Khanna have been living separately for nearly a year and are now in the process of getting divorced.
“Things are not bad between me and Gaurav. We still talk to each other. We don’t think we are compatible as partners because we both see a very different future. And, unfortunately, it’s not with each other,” the actor added.
She clarified that there is no bitterness between them and that they continue to remain in touch despite deciding to end their marriage. According to Akanksha, the separation is based on incompatibility rather than conflict.

In a later episode of the reality show, Akanksha opened up about the primary reason behind their decision to separate.
During a conversation with co-participants Shreya Kalra and Sufi Motiwala, Akanksha said, “Jab hum shaadi mein the, mera maternal instinct kabhi nahi tha (When we were married, I never had a maternal instinct). But I was open to discovering it, and it was never shut down. Gradually, however, I realised that I am not meant for it, and he was okay with that. But I guess, in time, that shifted.”
“Now he wants to have kids and I can’t give him that. Nahi hai mere mein instinct, woh maine bohot pehle bol diya tha (I don’t have the instinct; I had told him long ago). Jab mujhe realise ho gaya ki main bani hi nahi hoon iss cheez ke liye, maine tabhi bol diya tha ki main nahi karne waali hoon. So we had a discussion where I told him if he wants to leave me, then leave me – fair enough,” Akanksha added.
Akanksha said both of them respected each other’s choices, but eventually understood that their future goals were fundamentally different, making it difficult to continue as life partners.
Gaurav Khanna and Akanksha Chamola got married in 2016 and were often regarded as one of television’s most admired couples. While they largely kept their relationship private, Akanksha’s revelation on Lock Upp Season 2 marked the first public confirmation that they had been living apart for the past year.
