After senior journalist Gauri Lankesh was shot dead at her home by unknown assailants in Bengaluru,  Delhi Police’s cyber cell on Thursday registered an FIR against a man who has openly threatened journalist Sagarika Ghose on Facebook. According to a senior police officer, the man has openly threatened to eliminate five eminent persons, by calling them anti-national.

The FIR was registered following a complaint from Ghose whose name appears in the list of targets, including Shobha De, Arundhati Roy, Sagarika Ghose, Kavitha Krishnan and Shehla Rashid.

“We registered an FIR after receiving a complaint from Sagarika Ghose under the IT Act. In her complaint, Sagarika said she saw an open threat post from a man who has two different accounts by the names of ‘Vikram Aditya Rana’ and ‘Vikramjb Rana’ on Facebook. He is a native of Shillong,” said DCP Anyesh Roy.

On Tuesday, Rana shared a post on the social networking site, calling Ghose and four other women activists as anti-nationals who masquerade as journalists and activists.

The police swung into action after Ghose posted on Twitter about the post.
