Gold Rate in India, May 27, 2025: Yellow Metal Slip as Global Trade Tensions Ease

Gold prices across India saw a dip on Tuesday, reflecting a cooling in global safe-haven demand after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a delay in imposing a steep 50% tariff on European Union goods.

In Mumbai, 22-carat gold is now priced at ₹89,490 per 10 grams, while 24-carat gold stands at ₹97,630 per 10 grams. Silver, on the other hand, edged up by ₹100 to touch ₹1,00,100 per kilogram.

Across major cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Patna, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, gold prices hovered in a narrow band, reflecting a national alignment with international market cues. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), gold was trading flat at ₹96,018 per 10 grams, while silver was marginally down by 0.13%, trading at ₹98,090 per kg during morning hours.

So, what’s behind the dip? According to Rahul Kalantri, vice-president (commodities) at Mehta Equities Ltd, the global gold market reacted to Trump’s announcement of postponing the EU tariff decision to July 9. “Last week, gold and silver had surged due to safe-haven buying, global uncertainties, and worries over possible trade tensions between the U.S. and Europe,” Kalantri explained.

Gold, especially in India, holds both cultural and financial significance — it’s not just an investment; it’s a centerpiece in weddings, festivals, and family wealth-building. 24-carat gold, known for its unmatched purity, continues to attract premium buyers, while 22-carat gold remains popular among jewellery lovers for its durability and beauty.

But behind the daily price updates lie global forces. International rates, import duties, domestic taxes, and currency exchange fluctuations all play a role in shaping India’s gold market. This makes it essential for investors and traders to stay vigilant and informed, especially during periods of geopolitical or economic shifts.

Here’s a quick city-wise snapshot for May 27, 2025:

  • Delhi / Jaipur: ₹89,640 (22K), ₹97,780 (24K)

  • Ahmedabad / Patna: ₹89,540 (22K), ₹97,680 (24K)

  • Mumbai / Hyderabad / Chennai / Bengaluru / Kolkata: ₹89,490 (22K), ₹97,630 (24K)

As the world watches the evolving U.S.-EU trade talks, gold investors in India should prepare for potential market swings — because in the precious metals game, global headlines often hit home fast.
