Just a day after many died in the Gorakhpur’s state-run Baba Raghav Das Medical College’s massacre due to lack of oxygen, on Saturday started Indian cricketer Virendra Sehwag got trolled on Twitter for not holding the current Uttar Pradesh government responsible for the death of victims.
According to reports, the Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday said stringent action will be taken against those found guilty of the high number of death of infants that took place in Gorakhpur’s state-run hospital.
Commenting on the incident, Virendra Sehwag tweeted, “Deeply pained by the loss of innocent lives in #Gorakhpur. More than 50000 children have lost their lives here since encephalitis was first reported in 1978, the year I was born. We Still haven’t figured a way to save innocent lives from a known disease. Heartbreaking”. However, the cricketer didn’t hold anyone responsible for the death of children.
Soon after his comments were aired on social media, Twitter couldn’t keep calm. People went on to calling him spineless for not having criticised the government for its failure.
On Friday night, Gorakhpur district magistrate Rajeev Rautela said at least 30 children had died in the Medical College in 48 hours. However, the state health minister Siddharth Nath Singh said according to reports from the paediatric department of the college, 60 children died since August 7, due to various diseases.
