Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday morning conducted raids at the residential premises of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in connection with a land deal case.

According to the reports, the raid at the Congress leader’s Model Town residence in Rohtak started around 8:30 in the morning and is still underway. The investigative agency is simultaneously conducting raids at more than 30 places in Delhi and nearby areas in connection with the alleged land scam.

In December 2018, the CBI had filed a charge sheet against Hooda in connection with re-allotment of institution plot to AJL in Haryana’s Panchkula in 2005. It is alleged that the 14 industrial plots in Panchkula, ranging from 496 square metres to 1,280 square metres, were allotted at throwaway prices after changes were made in the eligibility criteria during Hooda’s tenure as the CM.

The raids come just weeks after Hooda was granted bail by a CBI court in Panchkula.

Hooda has been campaigning for Randeep Surjewala in Jind for the last few days for the crucial by-poll that will be held on January 28.

More details awaited in the case.
