Hellboy: Web of Wyrd New Release Date: Today, publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment announced that Upstream Arcade’s upcoming Hellboy video game will be delayed by two weeks to ensure “that all players, both longtime fans and newcomers to the Hellboy universe, receive the best experience possible.”
Hellboy: Web of Wyrd will now be released on October 18, 2023, right in the middle of the month’s most anticipated titles. The upcoming third-person beat ’em up with procedurally generated levels looks especially impressive due to its hand-drawn visuals that attempt to recreate the magic of Mike Mignola’s art style. Big Red, portrayed by the late Lance Reddick, is sent to the domain of Wyrd when a Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.) agent goes missing.
The game was initially announced at The Game Awards 2022 and is the first Hellboy game since 2008’s poorly received Hellboy: The Science of Evil for PS3, Xbox 360, and PSP, though Big Red did appear as a playable guest combatant in Injustice 2.
While we must wait a few more weeks for the game to be released on Switch and other platforms, we can at least take a look at some game screenshots in the interim.
