Here is How a ₹20,000 SIP Grew Into ₹1 Crore With This Hybrid SIP

Hybrid SIP: Many people who want good returns but don’t want to take big risks often go for aggressive hybrid mutual funds. These funds mix both equity and debt so that investors can enjoy some growth when markets go up and still have some safety when markets go down.

One well known fund in this space is the ICICI Prudential Equity & Debt Fund. This fund is actively managed, which means the fund manager keeps making changes depending on the market conditions. The manager decides how much money goes into equity or debt and also shifts between large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap stocks depending on the market. So the fund moves with the market but doesn’t crash badly when markets fall.

If someone started investing ₹20,000 every month in this fund back in January 2013 and kept doing that till now in 2025, their investment would have crossed ₹1 crore. Over 12 years the total amount they put in would be ₹30 lakh, and the rest around ₹70 lakh would be pure profit. The XIRR, which is the actual return on a regular investment like SIP, stands at 18.28%. This shows that the fund gave strong and steady returns over a long time without too much risk.

Where the Money goes Matters

This fund does not swing up and down too much like some pure equity funds. Its standard deviation is only 9.88%, which is much lower compared to other similar funds and even lower than Nifty 50. That means the fund does not go very high or very low too fast it stays more stable. Rohan Goyal, who is an investment analyst at MIRA Money, shared that the fund has a Sharpe Ratio of 1.35%. This number helps to see how much return a fund gives for each unit of risk, and a higher number is always better.

Right now, the fund holds 72% of its money in equity, 22% in debt, 2% in real estate, and 4% in cash. In the equity portion, most of the money is in large companies around 90%. Only 8% is in mid-sized companies and just 2% in small ones. The fund has investments in 89 different stocks. This shows that the fund is playing it safe while still looking for good growth.

In terms of growth, this fund has done really well. Over the last three years, the CAGR (compound annual growth rate) is 21.79%. If we look at five years, the CAGR is even better 26.67%. These numbers mean the fund has grown a lot in both the short and medium term.

How SIP Makes the Growth Faster

Some people use a simple trick called step-up SIP, where they increase their monthly investment by a fixed percentage every year. Even a small 10% step-up makes a big difference over time. If someone had done a ₹20,000 monthly SIP from January 2013 but increased it by 10% every year, their total investment would have been ₹55 lakh. Today, that investment would be worth more than ₹1.5 crore. The total profit would be around ₹1 crore. And the best part is they would have reached that milestone nearly two years earlier compared to someone who just did a flat ₹20,000 SIP every month.
