Himachal proposes budget session from Feb 4

Shimla, Jan 8 (IANS) The Himachal Pradesh government on Tuesday proposed to the Governor to convene the budget session of the Assembly from February 4 to 27.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here.

It was also decided to recruit 1,063 police constables on a regular basis through direct recruitment. Out of these, 213 will be women constables, a government spokesperson told IANS.

The Cabinet gave permission to fill 200 posts of doctors on contract through walk-in interview in the Health and Family Welfare Department. This will help overcoming shortage of doctors in remote and far-flung areas.

It was decided to increase the incentive of MBBS doctors appointed or to be appointed on contract by Rs 10,000 per month and that of specialist doctors by Rs 15,000 per month.

The Cabinet gave its approval to fill vacant posts of part-time water carriers who are below the poverty line.

It was decided to purchase 46 new ambulances under National Ambulance Service 108 to ensure prompt service to the patients in emergency.
