Holashtak 2021: Avoid doing THIS on the inauspicious day, check dos and don’ts here

Holashtak is the eight-day period associated with the Holi festival in India. This time Holashtak will be from 22 March 2021 to 28 March 2021. Holika Dahan will be  celebrated on 28 March 2021 and Holi on 29 March 2021.

This period is considered inauspicious in Hindu mythology as this is the time when Lord Shiva killed Kamadeva and this is same period when Prahalada was given immense troubles by his father Hiranyakashipu and his father’s sister Holika.

Why Holashtak is considered as inauspicious period?

During the eight days of Holashtak, Moon on the eighth day, Sun on the ninth day, Saturn on the tenth day, Venus on the eleventh day, Jupiter on the twelfth day, Mercury on thirteenth day, Mars on fourteenth day and Rahu on the Purnima day take a nrgative transformation.

That is why all the auspicious tasks should not be done during this period. In pilgrimage sites such as Shatrudra, Vipasha, Iravati and Pushkar are considered not affected by the negative effects of Holashtak.

Dos and Don’ts during Holashtak 2021:

Dos:

• To remove negative energy, you should clean your house with Gangajal.
• If you’ve looking for a groom for your daughter, then you should chant Katyayani mantra it will be favourable.
• By donating food, clothes and money to someone needy, you can bring yourself luck.
• You can decorate a brand of trees by using colourful pieces of cloth and bury them underground as it is believed that threads absorb negative energies and protect us.
• You must collect a wood stick, which helps in absorbing negative energies, and you should burn these wood stick during Holika Dahan.

Don’ts:

• Do not consider moving to a new apartment or office as it is not considered favourable.
• You should name a newborn or perform any important rituals during this period.
• Avoid any auspicious function, including weddings.
