Honor Magic V5 Features: In the fast-paced foldable smartphone arena, Honor has once again surged to the front with its new flagship; the Honor Magic V5. Marketed as the world’s slimmest inward-folding phone, this handset has garnered international buzz for its feather-light frame, luxury chassis and high-end specifications. Even though the Magic V5 seems revolutionary initially, a superficial examination uncovers several important missing points.
Honor was proudly advertising the Magic V5 as the thinnest foldable phone to date, at only 8.8mm folded and an incredible 4.1mm when unfolded. Here’s the twist: this record is for the Ivory White version only, which employs special composite materials to trim those extra millimetres away. Other color options such as Black, Gold and Reddish Brown are a bit thicker at 9.0mm when closed and 4.2mm open.
Those numbers don’t even factor in the camera bump, which protrudes quite remarkably. Honor’s marketing focuses on the phone’s narrow edges. Real-world users might discover that the camera island interrupts the uniform profile, particularly when the device is resting face-up on a surface.
The Honor Magic V5 is nothing short of a smartphone engineering masterpiece. It has a carbon fiber inner screen layer, aerospace-grade hinge material, and weight distribution design, so it feels substantial in the hand. The Ivory White variant is the lightest of the bunch, coming in at just over 217 grams, with other colors pushing the scale closer to 222 grams.
The hinge, a key component to any foldable, is polished and robust. It feels great to fold and unfold, and the phone snaps closed with confidence. The Magic V5 provides IP58-rated water and dust resistance, which is still uncommon in foldables.
The phone headlines with two gorgeous OLED panels. The interior display features a 7.95-inch LTPO panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits. The cover screen is a 6.43-inch OLED with nearly identical specs, making it insanely usable for one-hand actions.
Powering the Honor Magic V5 under the hood is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite Edition, combined with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. Be it multi-tasking, gaming or productivity, the Magic V5 serves up flagship level performance with ease. Early testers say the crease in the foldable display is less noticeable than past foldables, courtesy of Honor’s enhanced hinge design.

Its a killer setup for shutterbugs, the Magic V5. It boasts a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 64MP periscope telephoto providing 3x optical zoom. For selfies, there’s a pair of 20MP cameras – one for the inner display and one on the outer screen. Its camera system is augmented with AI and optical image stabilization for crisp shots.
Battery life is another highlight. The Chinese 1TB variant contains a massive 6,100mAh battery, whereas other global models house a 5,820mAh unit. It offers 66W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging, which is faster than a lot of rival foldables.
User impressions point to some real-world balances. The large camera bump causes the phone to rock when it’s resting on a flat surface. While Honor has reduced the visibility of the display crease, it remains visible at certain angles and lighting.
With its robust hinge, IP rating, and enhanced folding mechanism, the Magic V5 is designed for daily durability. It handles heat nicely under intense workloads, an important factor for foldable durability.
The Honor Magic V5 launched in China on July 2, 2025, at ¥8,999 ($1,250 / ₹1,05,000) for the base 12GB + 256GB variant. The 1TB model is exclusive to some China markets and includes the larger 6,100mAh battery. A worldwide launch is due later in 2025 in Q3 or Q4, but Honor has yet to announce the official color or variant offerings for international consumers.
It’s safe to say that the Honor Magic V5, without a doubt, pushes the foldable phone design and innovation envelope. With its ultra-thin profile, vivid displays, powerful cameras and flagship specs, it’s a tempting choice for tech buffs.
