Housefull 5 Box Office Collection Day 9: ‘Housefull 5’ which boasts of an ensemble cast led by the iconic Akshay Kumar, has been enjoying a fantastic run at the box office. Released on June 6, the fifth film in what has become a hugely popular franchise has already sped past the Rs 200 crore mark overseas and is hurtling toward Rs 150 crore in India.
Estimates by trade tracker Sacnilk peg the film’s overall India net total at around Rs 141.8 crore net in just nine days since its release.
Even as the film goes into its second week, the film has continued to build audience interest. After around Rs 6 crore on its second Friday, Housefull 5 collected an estimated Rs 8.55 crore net on its second Saturday alone. The opening week ended with a strong Rs 127.25 crore in domestic collection.
Occupancy rates are still looking healthy, with over 16.39% in the aggregate on Saturday, with much stronger turnouts seen in the afternoon and evening shows. Interestingly, the movie is getting a lot more traction in Chennai (29.67%) vs historically dominant states such as Mumbai (18%) and Delhi (19%).
Shot principally in India and Abu Dhabi and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala under his Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment label, ‘Housefull 5’ is the fifth major extension of the comic caper franchise that debuted in 2010. As with every sequel so far, with each chapter directed by another creative, this time around, the reins are in the hands of Tarun Mansukhani. Most remarkably, the film provides a special treat — two separate climaxes featuring two separate killers, depending on which theatre you see it in.
Attached to the film is Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh, who have been in all five films, while Abhishek Bachchan returns to the franchise after featuring in ‘Housefull 3’. This latest chapter of the action franchise also features Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Soundarya Sharma.
