Hyderabad: L&T to give 20 lakhs, job as compensation for woman’s death at metro station

Operator L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited has announced to offer a job and Rs 20 lakh as a compensation to the family of 26-year-old housewife K Mounika who died when plaster of Ameerpet Metro Station peeled off and fell on her.

SR Nagar police late on Sunday night registered a first information report (FIR) based on the complaint lodged by Mounika’s husband K Harikanth Reddy, a software engineer with TCS, under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the CrPC. On Monday, police altered the case and added Section 304-A (Negligence causing death) of the IPC.

Meanwhile, Mounika’s family members along with members of Telangana Jana Samithi demanded L&T to pay Rs 50 lakh and provide a job for a family member as compensation.

However, it agreed to accord Rs 20 lakhs and a job to the deceased family. The amount is also said to be disbursed within a month.
