Every year, May 17th is celebrated as International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. Though some countries in the world have decriminalised the LGBT rights, there are some nations that still do not view homosexuality in a favourable light.

The day was first conceived in 2004 by Louis- Georges Tin.
France was the first country in the world to officially remove transgender issues from its list of mental illnesses.
Same sex marriages have been legalised in the USA in 2015.
