IGNOU July 2025 Admission Deadline Extended: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has taken a step that will definitely lighten the mood of many students by announcing a new deadline for applications for its July 2025 admission cycle. According to the revised notification, the cut-off date for filing applications for most of the courses has been extended up to October 15, 2025, thus providing extra time for those who have not yet submitted their applications.

This time extension applies to almost all the programmes run as Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online mode except for certificate-based programmes and semester-based courses.

IGNOU July 2025 Admission Deadline Extended: Why?

IGNOU’s decision to extend the deadline by yet another notch is not so surprising after all. The university, in her previous admission rounds, has been quite flexible with the cutoff dates as she has done it on a few occasions to give room to students who have not been able to meet the timelines due to various reasons. The deadline was first extended to September 15, 2025 for ODL and online modes.

Students who needed more time to get all the necessary documents, generate required IDs (e.g., DEB ID), or face technical issues could thus avail the longer window. A new regulation that requires the creation of a DEB-ID (Distance Education Bureau ID) for students registering for ODL/online programmes has been put in place by IGNOU, and this has made the procedure more complicated for many applicants.
