India & WHO Sign Landmark Agreement: A Landmark Agreement was signed between Ministry of Ayush and World Health Organisation on 24.05.2025 at Geneva Switzerland. The MoU was signed and exchanged between Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General, WHO & Vd. Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush.
They signed an Agreement for development of Traditional Medicine Intervention Categories and Index for the International Classification of Health Intervention (ICHI). It focus on Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani systems.

The Agreement is aimed at boosting global recognition, standardization, research, and integration into mainstream healthcare of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani systems.
Director-General WHO said, that he was pleased to sign an agreement for a $3 million contribution from India to WHO. It aims to work on traditional medicine and the International Classification of Health Interventions.
This Agreement relates to a financial contribution to be made by the Donor to the World Health Organization (WHO) towards developing Ancient Medicine intervention categories and index for the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI). It focuses on a holistic approach and focus on TM system of Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani
The joint efforts of Ministry of Ayush, Government of India & WHO will not only benefit India but also contribute to the global health agenda. By reinforcing our commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through Traditional Medicine.
