In another case of racism, an Indian cab driver was attacked and endured injuries in Sandy Bay, Tasmania, on Friday. The driver, who was not permitted to disclose his name owing to legal proceedings, told his terrible ordeal.

The driver picked up a couple on Friday night around 10.30 pm and was heading towards McDonalds. The female commuter allegedly kept opening the door to throw up while avoiding driver’s request. Following repeated objections in opening the car door, the couple began abusing the driver.

In a little while, the couple de-boarded the taxi and began damaging the vehicle. The woman also started screaming racial slurs at the Indian driver and called him a ‘bloody Indian.’ The cab driver recorded their violence.

The driver was punched by the man, who pushed him to the ground. The passenger also shouted saying, ‘You f****** Indian, you deserve it.’ Subsequently some people came to his rescue and police and ambulance too have reached the spot.

However, the driver alleged that the police have not filed the gravity of the matter and also have not examined the CCTV footages.
