India’s decision to seal Pakistan border irrational: Chinese experts

Follow Newsd On

Chinese experts have said the sealing of the border, announced by the Indian government last week is “irrational” and will set back bilateral ties. The move reflects India’s “Cold War mentality”, one expert said

Hu Zhiyong, a research fellow from the official think-tank, Institute of International Relations of the Shanghai Academy, was quoted saying, “India is making a very irrational decision, since no exhaustive investigation has been conducted after the Uri incident, and no evidence proves Pakistan is behind the attack.”

Chinese experts have said that here is no evidence of Islamabad’s involvement in the terror attack on an Indian Army camp in Uri. The decision would only cause deeper hatred among residents living in Indian- and Pakistan-controlled Kashmir said Echoing Hu, from the Shanghai Municipal Center for International Studies.

The Chinese media referred to Jammu and Kashmir as “India-controlled Kashmir” and the part held by Pakistan as “Pakistan-administered Kashmir”.

These comments have come ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India this week to take part in the BRICS Summit in Goa during which he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
