Indonesia: Earthquake hit Java, Bali; no tsunami warning

An earthquake struck Indonesia’s Bali and Java islands on Thursday, September 19, according to real-time earthquake monitor EMSC.

Reports suggest that the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.2.

Preliminary reports suggest that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.5. Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency BMKG has ruled out tsunami due to the impact of Java earthquake.

According to EMSC, the earthquake occurred 148 km NE of Purwodadi region. The time of the earthquake is reported to be 07:06:33.9 UTC.

The epicenter of the strong earthquake is reported to be off the coast of Java but the tremors were also reportedly felt in parts of Bali.
