A hotel in Bengaluru denied entry to a couple on grounds that they belonged to different religions.

Shafeek Subaida Hakkim and Divya DV, a married couple from Kerala, were denied a hotel room in Olive Residency Hotel at Annipuram Main Road in Sudhama Nagar. The hotel authorities refused to allot them a room as the husband was a Muslim and wife, a Hindu.

Reportedly, the couple had spoken of them being married but had no legal document to prove their marriage. However, despite them having valid identity proofs, the hotel did not give a room to this inter-faith couple.
