IUCAA to celebrate National Science Day on Sunday, February 28

This Sunday, February 28, the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, will celebrate National Science Day (February 26).

Exciting ongoing research regarding the Aditya L-1 mission will be presented to the public. In addition to posters, there will be models and 3D-printed demonstrations. In addition, special public interactions with the scientists and engineers who are leading this effort have been arranged. ISRO plans to launch the Indian Solar Astronomy and Aditya-L1 mission very soon.

“It is vital to understand our own Sun, its surroundings, and its effects on the Earth. Aditya-L1 is going to be an advanced observatory, located in space, studying the Sun 24×7 and giving a boost to the research in India. Many parts of it have been made in IUCAA,” researchers said in a statement issued Friday.

Specialized telescopes will be used to observe the current active regions on the Sun’s surface.

Inspiring Future Women in Science will be the topic of a special panel discussion, which will highlight efforts, successful ideas, and positive solutions. People can visit the main campus until 5:30 pm and attend a public scientist interaction in the Chandrasekhar Auditorium until 7 pm. The gates will open at 10 am. IUCAA is located on the campus of S P Pune University.
