Pakistan has said that it was considering a visa application of the mother of Kulbhushan Jadhav to let her meet her son, on Thursday. Jadhav was sentenced to death in Pakistan on the charges of espionage and terrorism. India had asked Pakistan to let Avantika Jadhav to meet her son.

“Pakistan is considering the Indian request for the grant of visa to the mother of Kulbushan Yadav,” Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria was quoted as saying by state-run Radio Pakistan. However, the Ministry of External Affairs said they did not get any information on the same.

Zakaria’s statement came days after External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj said she had written to the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz asking for the sanction of visa. “I wrote a personal letter to Sartaj Aziz for the grant of her visa to Pakistan. However, he has not shown the courtesy even to acknowledge my letter,” she had tweeted.

However, Zakaria said asking for recommendations from Aziz to grant visas was against diplomatic norms, Dawn newspaper reported.
