James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore dies at 89

Actor Sir Roger Moore, fondly remembered for playing James Bond, died in Switzerland on Tuesday. He was 89 years old.

He played the famous spy in seven James Bond films, including Live and Let Die, and the Spy Who Loved Me.

His family confirmed the news of his death and said that he died after “a short but brave battle with cancer”.

In a statement, his children said, “Thank you Pops for being you, and being so very special to so many people.”

The family said that a private funeral will be held in Morocco, in accordance with his wishes.

“The love with which he was surrounded in his final days was so great it cannot be quantified in words alone,” read the statement from his children.

“Our thoughts must now turn to supporting Kristina [his wife] at this difficult time”, they said.
