Jashn-e-Rekhta releases schedule for Urdu festival

As Delhi set to host one of the biggest events for poetry lovers, Jashn-e-Rekhta, a festival celebrating Urdu, the organisation releases the scheduled for 3 day festival on Wednesday.

Jashn-e-Rekhta is a celebration of the spirit and eloquence of Urdu. The festival is organised annually in Delhi, under the aegis of Rekhta Foundation for the promotion of Urdu language and culture.

Jashn-e-Rekhta – the 3 day annual festival aims to create the much required awareness and appreciation of a language born and evolved in the Indian sub-continent.

As per scheduled, the event begins from February 17, will witness participation by several renowned poets, artists, litterateurs, novelists and lyricists.

Spurred by the success of its debut from 2014, that drew scores of visitors and featured enrapturing performances, the Urdu festival will be held at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).

Renowned poet Gulzar and ustad Amjad Ali Khan, who famous for their qawwali, are set to open the festival with a performance on February 17.

Here is the complete schedule:

Famous artists like Abhishek Shukla, Azhar Inayati, Bharat Bhushan Pant, Farhat Ehsas, Gulzar Dehlvi, Liaqat Jafri, Shakeel Aazmi, Shakeel Jamali, Sheen Kaaf Nizam, Vikas Sharma Raaz, Wasim Barelvi are also lined up for the event.

Another attraction at the festival will be Urdu bazaar, book exhibition, food festival, calligraphy corner and others.
