Ranchi, Oct 22 (IANS) The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the state government, seeking to know why discrepancies are being made while allotting residences to the legislators of different parties.

A double bench of the high court issued the notice on a petition filed by BJP legislator Naveen Jaiswal, who had challenged a single bench judgment to vacate the ‘F’ type residence which was allotted to him by the previous BJP government in the state.

“The court also wanted to know about the rules formed for allotting houses to legislators of different political parties. The court wanted to know how many legislators have been allotted high grade ‘F’ type quarters” Jaiswal’s lawyer told reporters.

The state government has been asked to file its reply by November 11.

“The single bench judgment says that the state government has not framed any rule to allot residences to ministers and legislators. In the absence of rules, the committee adopts discrepancies in allotting residences to the legislators,” the lawyer told the court.
