Ranchi: Sudesh Mahto led AJSU Party which is currently in the alliance with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and part of Raghubar Das government in Jharkhand has decided to cut its ties with BJP in the upcoming 2019 Legislative Assembly Elections.
AJSU Party spokesperson Devsharan Bhagat said on Monday, “the party will contest the 2019 state legislative election alone. The decision with regards to the Lok Sabha 2019 Elections which is just a few months away will be taken in the upcoming parliamentary board meeting.”
Bhagat added that they made an alliance with the BJP in 2014 eyeing a stable government, but the party has learnt and it will contest the upcoming elections on its own.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Congress chief Dr Ajoy Kumar has said that there will be no talks with AJSU until they break ties with the BJP government in Jharkhand.
The development comes on the same day when Asom Gana Parishad, another ally of BJP decided to cut its ties with the Party over the Citizenship Bill.
Former Chief Minister of Assam and President of Asom Gana Parishad party had said in a letter that they had decided to form an alliance with the BJP party on the understanding on the Assam Accord and other issues. He continued further that the government of India has violated the understanding by introducing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
Chandraprakash Chaudhry of AJSU is currently a minister in the Raghubar government.
All Jharkhand Students party was founded in June 1986 and have been a part of the various state government since Jharkhand got the statehood in 2000.
