Hemant Soren on JPSC-JSSC Recruitment: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren finally spoke on Tuesday, August 4, about the student protest that is going on over alleged mistakes and irregularities in JPSC and JSSC recruitment exams. He said his government is treating the matter with full care and seriousness. He made the remarks in Ramgarh district’s Nemra village after a programme held on the first death anniversary of his father, Shibu Soren.
Speaking to reporters, Hemant Soren said, “This is a sensitive government that believes in delivering justice. Whenever we take up an issue, we remain committed to resolving it. Our young people will certainly get justice within the ambit of the Constitution and the law,” IANS quoted Hemant Soren as saying. He tried to make it clear that the state government was not ignoring the students’ anger.
He also said, “I cannot tear open my chest to show how serious we are, but the government is taking this matter very seriously. This government has eyes, ears and sensitivity. Whatever is appropriate and in the interest of students, the state government will decide accordingly”. His words were meant to show that the government is watching the situation closely and will act only after proper review.
The Chief Minister said the state is still waiting for the findings of the agencies that are looking into the complaints. He said, “We are waiting for the findings and conclusions of the investigating agencies. The people of the state will soon be informed in detail about the matter. Students will receive full support in accordance with constitutional and legal provisions,” he said. He added that the final decision will come only after all the facts and reports are in hand.
This means the government is not ready to give a final answer yet. It says the process is still going on and that the matter has to move through the proper legal and administrative path first.
At the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, students from different parts of Jharkhand are continuing their protest. They say there have been paper leaks, corruption, and other problems in the recruitment exams held by JPSC and JSSC. The protest has now crossed 11 days, and the anger on the ground is still strong. Reports also say the protest entered Day 11 on Tuesday.

The students want the 14th JPSC Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination to be cancelled. They are also asking for a CBI and ED probe into the alleged irregularities, full release of OMR sheets and answer scripts, blacklisting of exam agencies that are under suspicion, and bigger reforms in the recruitment system. Their protest shows how deep the anger is among job seekers who feel the process has not been fair.
