Counting for the Karnataka byelection results has begun. 15 Karnataka assembly seats went to polls on December 5 in a crucial election for Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa.
The fate of the newly formed BJP government that came to power after toppling the JDS-Congress coalition government now depends on the results of the Karnataka assembly byelection. Karnataka by-poll results that will be declared on Monday will decide the future of the BJP government.
The counting of votes began at 8 am in 11 centers in Karnataka and the final results are most likely to be out by the afternoon.

Conceding defeat, Congress DK Shivakumar says, “We have to agree the mandate of the people. We have accepted defeat but there is no need to be dis-heartened. By-elections and general elections both are different. The Congress has a stronghold in Karnataka and it will not vanish.

Shivajinagar: Congress leading by 4500 votes after 4th round of counting.
Hunsur: Congress candidate H.P. Manjunath leading by 16083 votes after Round 9 of counting.
