Keralam Baby Girl Murder Case: Nearly three years later, police took the baby’s 45-year-old mother, Manju into custody. They conduct a search for her former partner and his brother in connection with an alleged role in the killing. A baby girl’s body was found buried in a marshy area in the Kerala state’s Pathanamthitta district this year.
The case goes back to August 2023, when a partially decomposed infant was found near the St Mary’s Orthodox Church in Pulikeezhu close to Thiruvalla. But according to reports, the investigation got stuck as there was no missing-child complaint against the little one that authorities were able to determine the child’s identity.
“We know from news accounts that the mother’s partner (Siva or Shivan) allegedly killed the child in an outburst of anger after seeing the woman cry when they were together during the night,” one official said according to media reports. “The alleged incident reportedly took place close by near the KSRTC junction in Changanassery, which police have been investigating with regard to the claims, but the allegations against others have yet to be established in court.”
As per media reports, this came after Manju argued with her partner in Palakkad about blaming one another regarding their child’s demise.
It was conveyed to the local authorities by a resident who informed them via a community welfare worker, prompting a renewed inquiry from the police department.
Following these leads, investigators were able to tie together what they learned with the infant’s body that had been discovered in Pulikeezhu in 2023. However, as noted earlier, no one filed a missing-child complaint at first, and it proved difficult for investigators to identify whose corpse it was at first glance.

The baby’s body was found in a marshy land near St Mary’s Orthodox Church in Pulikeezhu, Pathanamthitta district on August 12, 2023. The body had been partially decomposed and led to an investigation by the police.
The murder allegedly took place in Changanassery, whereas the body was transferred and buried in Pulikeezhu. Both places are very important for the police investigation into the way the murder took place and how it was covered up.
In the latest reports published from October 20 to October 21, 2026, the police have begun looking for the mother’s partner whose names are Siva or Shivan and his brother named Shakthi. It is believed that the brother assisted in the disposal of the body. Police will be verifying the statements and sequencing the events.
