Madhya Pradeh Assembly Election 2018: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan resigns

Bharatiya Janata Party’s three-time Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has resigned from  his post on Wednesday morning.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that he will not stake claim to form government. He said, “We did not get majority, will not stake claim to form government. I am going to tender my resignation to the Governor.”

Shivraj was made the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in November 2005. He guided the BJP to power twice in 2008 and 2013 with a brute majority.

Meanwhile, though it took 24 hours, but the results for Madhya Pradesh election have been declared.
After a seesaw battle, the Congress has emerged as the single largest party, however, it will need support of at least one other MLA to form government in Madhya Pradesh after almost 15 years.
