The innovative initiative like CM Helpline, which was launched for redressal of public grievances and to directly connect with the people was introduced in Madhya Pradesh in August 2014. However, the initiative like CM helpline has now become a medium of promoting government’s scheme, alleged Congress on Thursday.

Congress spokesperson Devendra Naapit in Tikamgarh alleged that, after the imposition of model code of conduct in Madhya Pradesh, CM Helpline is still promoting government’s schemes and programs like ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, ‘Mukhaymantri Kanyadaan Yojna’ and many more through the helpline line no. 181.

“It seems like State election commission is working under pressure of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan”, he added.

The model code of conduct was imposed in the state after the announcement was made by Election Commissioner OP Rawat on October 7 for free and fair elections. According to the Supreme Court guidelines, after the model code of conduct imposed in the state, all promotional activities are directed to be removed from government machinery.
