A year and a two month old toddler boy survives a fourth-floor fall in Govandi region of Mumbai on early hours of Thursday morning. The kid fell from the window to the tree, rolling down later to the ground.
At around 9 am in the morning the incident happened at a building in Govind (East), the residence of the Barkade family. The building is located at the BS Devashi Road in which Ajit Barkade, child’s father lives with Jyoti(his wife), Barkade’s parents and brothers and sisters.
Mangal, Atharva’s grandmother had opened the living room’s window, which apparently had no grills, to perform household chores. But, she had not closed the window properly, following which the youngest member of the family, Atharva Barkade, nicknamed Shree moved to the window. As quoted by HT, Mangal said, “We failed to realise what had happened as Atharva was playing in the living room when he ran towards the window and fell,” Mangal told HT.”
Ajit and the family members hurried to the ground floor to find Atharva conscious, near a tree. Atharva had fallen to the tree which helped in decreasing the impact of the accident. The family rushed him to the hospital and though he is currently in the Intensive Care Unit, his health appears stable at the moment.
