Maharashtra TET Paper Leak: The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test, or TET, paper leak case has now moved into a stronger phase. On Thursday, the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, S.S. Ghodke, sent 14 accused to police custody till August 3. This step gave investigators full access to all 15 arrested accused in the case, which means police can now question everyone face to face.
Recent reporting says the main accused, Bijendra Gupta, and his associate Indrajeet Singh alias Piku were arrested on July 25, and later Sonu Kumar Diwakar surrendered before the Bhiwandi court on July 28, taking the total arrests to 15.

Police believe this is an important turning point. With all the accused now in custody, they hope to understand the full sequence of events. They also want to compare one accused’s statement with another’s and find out where the story does not match. Investigators are also looking at how the alleged paper leak network worked and who played which role inside it.
During the hearing, Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Marathe told the court that the team needed to question all the accused together. He said this was needed for a “fair and comprehensive investigation.” The police argued that they must match the statements of the accused with digital evidence, mobile phone records, bank transactions and other papers collected during the probe. The aim is to find the real chain of events and see how the leaked question paper may have moved from one person to another.
The court accepted the police request. Earlier, 12 accused had been in judicial custody while two others were already in police custody. After Thursday’s order, all 14 were moved to police custody till August 3. One of the main reasons for this is that investigators want to conduct cross-questioning while checking the technical evidence at the same time.

Police are now focusing heavily on digital and financial records. They want to study phone data, chats, call logs, electronic files and banking details to see if these match what the accused are saying. The team also wants to find out exactly where the confidential TET paper was first leaked from and whether more people were part of the same network. This part of the case is being treated as very serious because it may open the door to more names and more arrests.
The defence side also made its stand clear in court. Advocates Narayan Ayyar, Jitendra Patil and Shailesh Gaikwad appeared for the accused. They told the court that the accused were ready to cooperate and would help the authorities bring out the facts of the case. That means the next few days are likely to be busy, with police mixing questioning and technical checking at the same time.
