A massive explosion shook Lebanon’s capital Beirut on Tuesday injuring several people and causing widespread damage.
Videos of the explosion are surfacing on the internet that shows a huge blast followed by screaming and thick smoke rising over the city.
As per the reports, the blast took place in Beirut’s port area where there are warehouses housing explosives. The cause of the blast is still not clear.
Residents reported windows being blown out and a false ceilings dropping. An Associated Press photographer near Beirut’s port witnessed people wounded on the ground and widespread destruction in central Beirut.
Lebanon’s health minister said there are a “very high number” of injuries and extensive damage to buildings and cars from the explosion, according to LBCI Lebanon.
