Meredith McIver comes to Melania Trump’s rescue, claims RNC2016 speech

Meredith McIver has identified herself as the speechwriter responsible for plagiarising Melania Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention. Offering her resignation, she said she including parts of Michella Obama’s speech from 2008 after heading Melania read them aloud over the phone.

Donald Trump later reacted saying, “She made a mistake … we all make mistakes.”

McIver reportedly “asked” to put out a statement after seeing the flak Melania was drawing due to her speech. She said the controversy was “distracting from Mr. Trump’s historic campaign for president and Melania’s beautiful message and presentation.”

“I apologise for the confusion and hysteria my mistake has caused. Today, more than ever, I am honored to work for such a great family,” she added. According to The New York Times McIver is a former ballet dancer and has majored in English.

McIver has been working for the Trump’s for a while now. She previously penned the title of Trump’s book, “Trump: Think Like a Billionaire”.

Before publishing McIver’s statement, Donald Trump took to Twitter to respond to the controversy. “The media is spending more time doing a forensic analysis of Melania’s speech than the FBI spent on Hillary’s emails.” He tweeted.
