An incident came to light where a 47-year-old migrant labourer attempted suicide at a quarantine centre in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh as he and other inmates at the facility feared the presence of a ghost.
At least 113 migrants who were working in Maharashtra and had returned to their native village here were lodged at this government-run isolation centre in Kurnool.
Lately, a rumour spread like wildfire among the inmates that the school is haunted and many claimed to have seen a ghost roaming in the facility at night.
On Thursday morning, a labourer, who tested positive for coronavirus and are undergoing treatment, attempted suicide by hanging from a window of the school building with the help of a cloth.
Fortunately, other inmates of the quarantine centre rescued him and he was sent to a government hospital in Adoni where his condition was declared stable. He was living with his wife at the facility.
