Millions of people across the world are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday. The festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan that began on May 27 and ended on Saturday.

Eid ul-Fitr begins with morning prayers (Namaz), wherein Muslims gather at a mosque before holding family gatherings and visiting friends. The festival is seen as a time of forgiving and thanking Allah for helping people complete their spiritual fasting.  Muslims also donate food to those who are less fortunate.

A number of leaders including Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, took to Twitter to greet those celebrating the festival.

The President of the country, Dr Pranab Mukherjee expressed his wishes as well.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh also tweeted his wishes.

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi also greeted the people.
