An African grey parrot Rocco has reported learned how to use owner’s smart speaker Alexa to play music and even placing orders from Amazon. The parrot has attempted to order lightbulbs, ice cream and a kite.

This is the same parrot which was kicked out of the National Animal Welfare Trust sanctuary for swearing too much.

Rocco after since he was removed from the sanctuary, live in Blewbury, Oxfordshire with Marion Wischnewski, the sanctuary worker who adopted Rocco. Marion said Rocco figured out how to order a variety of items on Alexa which ultimately increased her shopping bills. She added that she has to check her account every day to see what he has done.

Marion said that Rocco keeps adding fruits, vegetables, ice-cream and a whole range of products to her shopping list. But Rocco’s relationship to Alexa is not only limited to shopping. According to Marion, he enjoys listening to music with Alexa.

“They chat away to each other all day. Often, I come in and there’s music playing,” said Marion.

African Grey parrots are known for their ability to mimic words. Fortunately, due to the parental lock on Wischnewski’s Amazon account, Rocco’s attempted purchases have not been successful, the Sunday Times reported.
