After months of border dispute, India and China have decided to end the military standoff at Doklam near Sikkim, an External Affairs Ministry press statement said on Monday.

“In recent weeks, India and China have maintained diplomatic communication in respect of the incident at Doklam. During these communications, we are able to express our views and convey our concern and interest”, foreign ministry said in statement.

It said, “On this basis, expeditious disengagement of border personnel at the face-off site at Doklam has been agreed to and is on-going”.

The step of resolving the standoff comes ahead of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Beijing for the 9th annual BRICS summit.
