Moving train kills elephant in Assam

A moving train killed an elephant in Assam on Friday. According to a forest official, the animal was killed while it was trying to cross a railway track in north Lakhimpur district of Assam.

The elephant was killed by the train on the spot when a herd of elephants from the nearby Dulung reserve forest was crossing the railway track at Pathalipam area.

The official added that veterinarians have reached the accident site and are carrying out the post-mortem.
