According to Chesapeake police public information officer Leo Kosinski, a shooting at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia on Tuesday night resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, and the shooter is dead.
At 10:12 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting inside a Walmart on Sam’s Circle, according to Kosinski, who added that “less than ten” people were killed but did not specify how many. It’s unclear whether the shooter died as a result of self-inflicted injuries. According to Kosinski, no shots were fired at police officers “to his knowledge.”
“Chesapeake Police confirm a fatal active shooter incident at the Walmart on Sam’s Circle. The shooter has died”, Chesapeake City officials stated. A Reuters request for comment was not immediately responded to by Walmart or the police department.
