Mutual Fund Updates Today, August 21: On August 21, 2026, India’s mutual fund space had a bunch of notable movement, not just new fund launches, also upcoming NFOs, a couple scheme-name switches, and people adopting NCDEX’s Nidhi platform.

In the midst of all that, Quantum Mutual Fund opened up its Quantum Flexi Cap Fund NFO. At the same time, HDFC Mutual Fund shared that it would be changing the names of several schemes. And then, PGIM India, Invesco Mutual Fund, and ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund too, they mentioned transactions via the NCDEX Nidhi platform.

Mutual Fund Updates Today, August 21

1. Quantum Flexi Cap Fund NFO opens for subscription

Quantum Mutual Fund opened its new Quantum Flexi Cap Fund on August 21. The open-ended equity scheme will invest across large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap stocks.

The NFO will remain open until September 4, 2026. The minimum investment is ₹500, with additional investments possible in multiples of ₹1. The scheme will be benchmarked against the BSE 500 TRI and is managed by Chirag Mehta and Ketan Gujarathi.

2. PGIM India To Enable Transactions Through NCDEX Nidhi

PGIM India Mutual Fund will make it possible for investors to do purchase, redemption and switch parameters in eligible schemes via the NCDEX Nidhi platform starting August 24, 2026. This channel will work in a non-demat setup, so investors get one more route for their mutual fund transactions.

3. HDFC Mutual Fund Says It Will Change Multiple Scheme Names

HDFC Mutual Fund has announced that a number of scheme names will be updated from August 26, 2026.

A few of the revisions are:

  • HDFC Large and Mid-Cap Fund → HDFC Large & Mid Cap Fund
  • HDFC ELSS Tax Saver → HDFC ELSS – Tax Saver Fund
  • HDFC Hybrid Debt Fund → HDFC Conservative Hybrid Fund
  • HDFC Hybrid Equity Fund → HDFC Aggressive Hybrid Fund
  • HDFC Credit Risk Debt Fund → HDFC Credit Risk Fund
  • HDFC Dynamic Debt Fund → HDFC Dynamic Term Fund
  • HDFC Floating Rate Debt Fund → HDFC Floating Interest Rates Fund
  • HDFC Income Fund → HDFC Medium to Long Term Fund
  • HDFC Low Duration Fund → HDFC Ultra Short to Short Term Fund
  • HDFC Retirement Savings Fund → HDFC Retirement Fund

4. JM Financial AMC Also Updates Scheme Names

JM Financial Asset Management has also shared that several scheme titles will be revised effective August 26.

The changes include JM Midcap Fund becoming JM Mid Cap Fund, JM Flexicap Fund becoming JM Flexi Cap Fund, and JM Low Duration Fund becoming JM Ultra Short to Short Term Fund.

Other changes include JM Dynamic Bond Fund to JM Dynamic Term Fund and JM Short Duration Fund to JM Short Term Fund.

5. Invesco Mutual Fund Joins NCDEX Nidhi Transaction Facility

Invesco Mutual Fund has announced that purchase, SIP, redemption and switch facilities for eligible schemes through NCDEX Nidhi will be available from August 21, 2026.

At present, the facility is available through the non-demat mode. The development is part of the wider expansion of Nidhi as a mutual fund transaction platform for investors outside conventional distribution channels.

6. ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund Schemes Become Available On Nidhi

ICICI Prudential AMC has also made its schemes and investment strategies available for transactions through the NCDEX Nidhi platform.

The platform can facilitate transactions including SIPs, SWPs and STPs, in addition to purchases, redemptions and switches.

7. Kotak Mutual Fund Files For Fixed Maturity Plan

Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund has filed offer documents with SEBI for Kotak Fixed Maturity Plan Series 336-338, a close-ended debt scheme.

The NFO price is proposed at ₹10 per unit, with nil entry and exit load. The scheme proposes growth and IDCW options and has a minimum target collection of ₹20 crore, according to the latest industry update.

8. Zerodha Files For Life Cycle Fund 2056

Zerodha Mutual Fund has filed offer documents with SEBI for the proposed Zerodha Life Cycle Fund 2056.

The proposed open-ended scheme will have a ₹10 NFO price and a minimum application amount of ₹100. Its proposed benchmark is a combination of the Nifty 200 TRI, physical gold, physical silver and CRISIL 10-year Gilt Index.

9. Aditya Birla Sun Life Announces IDCW Record Date

Aditya Birla Sun Life AMC has fixed August 21, 2026 as the record date for IDCW (distributions) across a few schemes under the IDCW option. The list of schemes include:

  • Aditya Birla Sun Life Arbitrage Fund
  • Aditya Birla Sun Life Balanced Advantage Fund
  • Aditya Birla Sun Life Multi Asset Omni FoF
  • Aditya Birla Sun Life Multi-Cap Fund
  • Aditya Birla Sun Life Small Cap Fund

10. Mirae Asset Files For BSE Information Technology Index Fund

Mirae Asset Mutual Fund has filed the offer documents with SEBI, for the proposed Mirae Asset BSE Information Technology Index Fund like a heads up for investors.

This open-ended scheme is meant to follow the BSE Information Technology Total Return Index. The proposed NFO price is ₹10 per unit, while the minimum application amount is ₹5,000.

HDFC Mutual Fund Has A New REIT

In the same set of SEBI filings dated August 21, the HDFC BSE REITS and Commercial Real Estate Index Fund appear as a mutual fund draft filing.

That proposed scheme is also described as open-ended and it intends to track the BSE REITS and Commercial Real Estate Index (TRI). Overall, it kind of signals yet another clue about how specialised passive offerings are being planned, in India’s fast growing mutual fund market.
