Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain has been summoned by the Nagaon Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court in connection with the alleged rape of a 24-year-old woman.

Rajen Gohain is a BJP minister and a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha. The court has asked the central minister to appear on 8 January 2019.

However, Gohain claims that the case is fabricated and the victim wanted to withdraw the case. This has been confirmed by the officer-in-charge of the Nagaon Sadar police station who has said that the victim had requested to withdraw the case.

The police registered the case on 2nd August, charges of cheating, rape and criminal intimidation under IPC Sections 417, 376 and 506 respectively against the four-time Nagaon MP since 1999.
