Nagpur: Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya accused of smuggling supari

One of Sri Lanka‘s all-time great cricketer, Sanath Jayasuriya, has been accused of smuggling betel nuts to the neighbouring country of India. Reportedly, in Nagpur, the Director of Revenue Intelligence seized the article worth crores of Rupees.

The Sri Lankan Government has been informed about the incident. Sanath Jayasuriya along with another two involved cricketers are being taken to Mumbai for questioning.

Sanath Jayasuriya was the pioneer of Sri Lankan’s success in the 1996 World Cup. He has been throughout his career more than a decent contributor to Cricket Sri Lanka. Jayasuriya has 445 ODI matches to his name which is the 3rd most for any cricketer. He is also one of the few batsmen to have more than 10,000 runs to their name.
