The deal involves the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), India’s NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited, and the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). The NEA will receive 6.40 US cents per unit of electricity under this agreement. India’s role is crucial as Nepal and Bangladesh will use Indian transmission lines for electricity distribution through its territory.

This agreement, initially scheduled for July 28 but delayed due to political changes in Bangladesh, will see Nepal selling 40 MW of electricity to Bangladesh annually during the rainy season from June 15 to November 15, with an expected earning of USD 9.216 million.
