New Santa Monica Minimum Wage: In January, more than 20 states, as well as various cities and counties around the country, raised their minimum wage. However, two other states, as well as some towns and counties, are planning to raise minimum wages beginning in July.

• Starting July 1, 2024, the minimum wage will increase from $16.90 to $17.27 per hour. The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Works (CPI-W) for the Los Angeles metropolitan region (LA-Riverside-Orange County, CA) on a yearly basis.Santa Monica’s new prices are posted annually on or around January 1st.
• Starting July 1, 2024, the hourly pay for hotels and companies operating on hotel property will be $20.32, up from $19.73. This figure is consistent with the City of Los Angeles’ Hotel Worker Minimum Wage figure. Santa Monica will announce new prices yearly on or around May 15th.
• Santa Monica companies must give either 40 hours (small businesses) or 72 hours (bigger firms) of paid sick leave. The legislation also addresses service costs, first-time workers, enforcement requirements, and a limited exemption for firms who provide transitional positions.

Starting July 1, 2024, the minimum wage in Santa Monica will increase from $16.90 to $17.27 per hour, as stated on the municipal government website.

The yearly rise is derived using the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) for the Los Angeles-Riverside-Orange County, California metropolitan region. Starting July 1, 2024, hotel and property management firms’ hourly salary will increase from $19.73 to $20.32.

This figure corresponds to the minimum salary for hotel workers in Los Angeles. According to the new rule, Santa Monica companies must give 40 hours of paid sick leave for small firms and 72 hours for bigger enterprises.
