Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar will have to prove his majority in a special session of  the Bihar assembly on Friday.

The JD(U) supremo was administered the oath to office as the CM early on Thursday morning. His move rekindled the old alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP).

JD(U) has 71 lawmakers in the 243-member state assembly. With the BJP’s support, Kumar’s party now has 124 – one over the halfway mark.

Kumar’s decision to quit the ‘grand alliance’ in Bihar came after Lalu Yadav reiterated that his son, Tejashwi, would not resign from deputy CM post.
