UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced that the quota based reservation for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backwards Castes (OBC) in medical colleges’ across the state will come to an end.

As per an order passed to end quota reservation, the candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC castes planning to pursue a postgraduate degree in private medical colleges will be treated just as a candidate belonging to general category.

As UP CM chaired his second cabinet meeting on April 11, he also took a set of important decisions over various issues in UP.  Ranging from the development of the state to bringing education reforms, Yogi has taken up many agendas bringing some drastic changes. Yogi Adityanath has also suggested the introduction of English Language from Nursery as well as the introduction of yoga and self-defense in the schools. While all these steps are effectively focused towards improving the overall quality of education in the UP Board, the decision to abolish quotas for post graduate seats in Private Medical Colleges of the State would surely meet strong support as well as criticism.
