Renowned writer Arun Sadhu passed away early on Monday at a hospital following a heart condition at the age of 76. Sadhu was known for his immense contributions and has straddled the worlds of literature and journalism with equal elan.
He breathed his last at the Sion Hospital. He was in a serious condition and put on ventilator support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). “He was suffering from cardio myopathy,” Dr Jayshree Mondkar, dean-in-charge of the hospital, said.
Sadhu was known for his work in Mumbai Dinank, his first novel. Another noted book Simhasan was adapted into a Marathi film. Besides, Sadhu worked with several newspapers and also wrote many novels in Hindi, English, and Marathi. He was the receiver of a Sahitya Akademi award. He was given the Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad, N C Kelkar, and Acharya Atre awards also.
Apart from short stories, he wrote on the rise of Shiv Sena, the Vietnam War, and the Chinese revolution.
