Pakistan election 2018 Live Updates: 32 killed as people queued to vote

Adding to the casualties, 32 people have killed and 36 injured in a suicide bombing in Balochistan on as millions of voters queued up across Pakistan to elect a new government on Wednesday. Civil Hospital Quetta officials have confirmed the casualties.


In early signs of poll violence, at least one person has been killed and three injured after PTI supporters exchanged fire with those from the secularist Awami National Party (ANP) in Swabi, a city in the northern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said Raza Hamdani, district police officer.

The PTI is expected to retain control of the province.


Pakistan is holding its 11th general election since 1970 today. Voting has begun at 85,000 polling stations. About 4,00,000 police officers and 371,388 army personnel have been deployed at the booths as a precautionary security measure.
