Pakistan violates ceasefire in Digwar sector of Poonch

On Monday, Pakistan violated ceasefire in Digwar sector of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir and the Indian security forces have retaliated. No casualties have been reported so far in the incident. This is the second ceasefire violation in less than 24 hours. A civilian was injured when Pakistan violated ceasefire along the LoC on Sunday.

“Today Pakistan Army carried out unprovoked ceasefire violation in Poonch and BG sector. A befitting reply is being given,” said Defence PRO M Mehta.

This comes after India summoned the Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan and expressed deep concern over continued ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir on March 9. Syed Haider Shah was summoned to the Ministry of External Affairs and India’s strong protest against fatal casualty of Indian soldiers in uninitiated firing by Pakistan was conveyed.

Again on March 13, motor shelling firing by automatic weapons along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district by Pakistan prompted the army to retaliate.
